Institutions and Facilities

Most of the available public facilities and institutions are in the cities surrounding Simpson-Chaco. The nearest hospitals, for example, are in Farmington: Lifecourse Center for Rehab Services and San Juan Regional Medical Center. Another is the PHS Indian Hospital in Crownpoint, though this is already around forty miles away from Simpson-Chaco.

Airports in the area include Four Corners Regional Airport in Farmington, Aztec Municipal Airport in Aztec, Navajo State Park Airport in Navajo Dam, Crownpoint Airport in Crownpoint, Durango-La Plata County Airport in Durango and Cortez Municipal Airport in Cortez. The last two are already in the state of Colorado. Most of the getting around in the Simpson-Chaco area would require driving a private vehicle or walking for short distances, as the landscape consists of vast tracks of dry earth and rocks that is not exactly conducive for a steady stream of mass transportation.

For tertiary education, the nearest colleges and universities to Simpson-Chaco are: San Juan College in Farmington, University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, University of Phoenix also in Albuquerque, Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute, Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado.

There is one post office in Nageezi, and two local churches. These are the San Juan Mission Church and the Navajo Miracle Church. Also, a few FM and AM radio stations reach Simpson-Chaco from Farmington, Albuquerque and the other nearby towns.
