With the expanse of the New Mexico desert covering it, Simpson-Chaco has wonderful scenery that forms the backdrop for old but thriving cultures, a rare thing in this day and age. Simpson-Chaco has quite a number of water formations running through it. It also has some significant parks.
A lot of lakes and reservoirs can be observed in Simpson-Chaco. These include: Jeter's Lake, Dog Eye Pond, Juan's Lake, Hugh Lake, Dike Pit Tank, Black Lake, Hollow Pit Tank and Tanner Lake. Along with these are the streams, rivers and creeks. The Kim-me-ni-oli Wash, Kimbeto Wash, Kin Klizhin Wash, Willow Wash, Coal Creek, Moncisco Wash, Charlie Wash, Chaco Wash and Rock Wash are among them. Most of these streams and creeks run through the Chaco Canyon. The Chaco Wash eventually becomes the Chaco River as it winds its route further on.
The main parks in Simpson-Chaco are the Chaco Culture National Historic Park and the Ah-shi-sle-pah Wilderness Study Area. The Chaco Culture National Historic Park Historical Marker also falls under the park category. The Chaco Culture National Historic Park has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a United States National Historical Park. Simpson-Chaco is home to the Chaco Canyon which forms part of the park and is the seat of Chacoan culture.
